150th / Sesquicentennial StoreAs part of the 150th Nan & Jerrys Bait and Gift Shop and to pay homage as the oldest continuouly opperating business in Fish Creek....will be the Official 150th Store for all commemorative items. Stop by and get Jerry and his wife Susie to pass along some of the legendary stories about the fishing history of Fish Creek. Mugs, shirts, caps, Self-guided walking tour books are available.

Heritage Days / 150th Updates.Caputured in a Heritage Days concept the 150th Year celebrations, events and projects are many fold with appeal for not only local residents but also the many visitors. You will find activities spread across the entire year. Return frequently to the www.Gibraltar150.org Web site for updates and changes. For you to become a vital part of this history making year the web site has ways to facilitate your involvement by contributing “Your Stories” and “Your Predictions.”

“Picture Show” Series.“Picture Shows” will be offered on an alternate months schdule throughout the 150th Year. This project is a method of soliciting, electronically archiving and sharing the growing collection of historical photographs of the Gibraltar Historical Association.

“Cedars of Door County” Gallery Exhibit.Another 150th Celebration: A reception is scheduled to run from 4-7 p.m. on Saturday, July 12th. Interfibers Design Gallery is featuring ”Cedars of Door County” art exhibit. Wendy, a fiber artist, and Daryl, an oil painter, have created sculptures and paintings…depicting the character and charm found in the Door County majestic cedar tree. The exhibit brings forth a strong awareness for arts and environment.

“A House in Mourning”, Noble House DisplayTours of Noble House will feature displays on the customs of Victorian Funerals. The Nobel House staff will have on display and offer experiences that families provided for deceased loved ones in days gone by. This is part of the Sesquicentennial / 150th Celebration in collaboration with the Gibraltar Historical Association. Tours are avalilaable Tuesday through Sunday, 12:00AM – 5:00PM, through mid-October.

A Painted History of Fish Creek - Encore!Based on the excellent response from viewers that were able to experience Andrea Kinsey-Jauquettes Painted History of Fish Creek in May and June of 2008 and encore presentation has been arranged for this Fall, September 5 through the 30th during open hours at Door County Auditorium.

“Radio Stories” & GHA Annual Meeting Starting at 7:30 PM, the Gibraltar Historical Association invites all to attend the annual business and progress report meeting. A special treat will be the program for the evening offering “Radio Stories“ authored by the late Duncan Thorp, a noteworthy historical contributor to Fish Creek’s history.

150th - Hartland Community Band ConcertThis FREE concert is offered as another Heritage 150th Day Celebration. The Hartland Community Band will appear at the Gibraltar Fire Station early SATURDAY evening, 6:00 to 7:30PM, September 13th. This well-travelled Band has graciously offered to visit the Fish Creek area, to help us celebrate our 150 years of progress - especially our fire and rescue services. Building community spirit through very entertaining music is their specialty and will be enjoyable to all; join us.

OK Dance Band in concert.From 2:00 - 4:00, on a Fall Saturday, September 27th, in the midst of the Fish Creek “Inside Outside Sale” with Fall colors hinting harvest time, in Noble Square Park...the 150th will feature soothing musical sounds from yester-year....Orv Konop and his OK Dance Band will be playing music from the great bands of the 1940s.

“Native American Heritage” - pending.“The Indians of Door County” - Another in the “Gibraltar Talks” series, a “pending“ event: Authors, Paul and Frances Burton, will present on the contributions provided by our early years settlers, the Native Americans in Door County. Join us at 7:30 PM for this enjoyable evening.
